Castillo de Jagua

One of Cuba's most beautiful colonial Spanish fortresses.

Castillo-de-Jagua-Cienfuegos CubaThe castle is located at the entrance to the bay of Cienfuegos. You can get to it by ferry.

The castle was designed to be a safeguard against pirates in the first half of the 18th Century (between 1738 and 1745). You enter the Castle by a drawbridge over a moat, which is now dry.

There is an old old prison and chapel in the fortress courtyard.

Getting to Castillo de Jagua in Cienfuegos:

There is a little ferry the bay, which kind of adds to the quiatness of the outing.

Get a taxi to Va 46, entre Calle 25 y Calle 27.
