The castle is located at the entrance to the bay of Cienfuegos. You can get to it by ferry.
The castle was designed to be a safeguard against pirates in the first half of the 18th Century (between 1738 and 1745). You enter the Castle by a drawbridge over a moat, which is now dry.
There is an old old prison and chapel in the fortress courtyard.
The gardens date back to 1899. Take a guided tour around the beautiful site full of Caribbean flora, with more than 1,500 plant species.
A series of waterfalls and fresh water swimming pools, up in the Escambray mountains.
The scenery is stunning, and it’s nice to plunge into the natural pools.
You'll either love or hate the Dolphin Show, the Cuban’s LOVE it, and really interact with the show.
